The Story

Picture 30Tara Dakides and a celebrity team of athletes partnered up and and took second in the Baja desert in the BC class in one of the most legendary off-road races in North America. This year marked Dakides’ third time racing the Baja 1000. She holds notoriety as part of the first all-women’s team to finish the off-road challenge from tip to tail. Dakides drove and co-piloted 450 miles with Glen Plake and the first leg was completed by NBC correspondent Kelli Stavast and NASCAR driver Boris Said.

Dakides said of the race, “The one thousand is some of the most amazing memories I have had and will ever have in my life. It’s a lifetime experience event. When you do this it’s like nothing else in the world.” She also said, “another important aspect of the race is that everyone is doing it on their own dime…. There’s no winnings. It’s because the experience is all heart, passion for the sport, and very unique.”
